Malkapur: Tragic Accident on Buldhana Highway: 6 Amarnath Returnees Killed in Bus Collision. A heart-wrenching accident occurred on the Buldhana highway, resulting in the loss of six lives and injuring 21 others. The mishap took place when a group of pilgrims was on their way back home to Hingoli and other places after completing their pilgrimage to Amarnath. Their buses collided with an Akola-bound bus, causing a devastating impact.
The collision proved fatal for six passengers who tragically lost their lives on the spot. Among the 21 injured, two were reported to be in critical condition, requiring immediate medical attention.
In response to the situation, the other 32 passengers were provided temporary lodging and boarding at a gurdwara in Malkapur until necessary arrangements could be made for their journey back home.
Expressing sorrow over the tragedy, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde offered his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced compensation of Rs 5 lakhs to the kin of each victim. Additionally, he assured that all the injured individuals would receive treatment at government expense at the Buldhana Civil Hospital.
According to a police official, the collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on NH 6, on a railway over-bridge near Malkapur, which lies on the Akola-Jalgaon highway.
One of the buses was carrying around 50 pilgrims returning to Hingoli after an 18-day pilgrimage to Amarnath. The other bus, operated by Royal Travels, was headed from Nagpur to Nashik and had inter-district passengers on board.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Nashik-bound bus attempted to overtake a truck ahead, leading to the tragic accident when the Hingoli-bound bus came in front, causing the collision.
The incident has left a deep impact on the community, and authorities are working diligently to support the affected families and ensure proper medical care for the injured.
